4 Most Common Seed Cycling Questions

Which seeds for seed cycling?

Seed cycling consists of form main seeds.

During the follicular phase (day one of your period until ovulation or around day 15) consume ground flax and pumpkin seeds.

During the luteal phase (post-ovulation until the end of your cycle) consume ground sesame and sunflower seeds.

Why seed cycling works

Seed cycling may help regulate the menstrual cycle due to the phytoestrogens that are found in the seed cycle seeds.

Phytoestrogens are plant-based compounds. “They have been shown to have both estrogenic and antiestrogenic effects. This means that, while some phytoestrogens have estrogen-like effects and increase estrogen levels in your body, others block its effects and decrease estrogen levels”

How long does seed cycling take to work

Seed cycling is not currently backed by science as research is lacking so there is very little guidance on how long it takes to work. However, you should aim to try seed cycling (should you have no adverse effects) for three months. In this time you should have three periods and give you enough time to establish if there have been any positive changes.

When to start seed cycling

Today! Seed cycling can be started at any point in your menstrual cycle. Take a look at what day you are on in your cycle using an app or diary tracker. If you are pre-ovulation start with the follicular blend. If you are post-ovulation start with the luteal blend.

Bias' tip: Don’t forget to ground your seeds to get the most out of them! Plus you will need to up your water intake to avoid dehydration.
